Focus : Chin Hsi

Chin is from Taiwan, where she was born and raised and studied business and accounting. “I am my own business now so these studies turned out to be quite useful! I At least I don’t need anyone to do my accounting and fill the tax papers!”. She first came to Paris when a fellow Taiwanese designer working in Paris invited her for his show.  A few months later, a French makeup artist encouraged her to settle in Paris. “It has become my second home since then. Paris helped me grow up and learnt me what love is. In Asia, people don’t open their hearts and you grow up being prevented from showing your feelings. Paris helped me be more self-confident about my feelings and be able to pronouce those three words more easily“. Chin is amongst the most enthusiastic girls we met about modeling : “I just love modeling. I can’t think of any better job : you meet incredible people, you travel the world. Even if I have to spend an entire day in a frozen pool, I can’t help thinking about how fantastic this job. Plus my mom was a model so I guess it’s in my DNA!”.

WM Loves… The Dandy Warhols New Album

The Dandy Warhols are back with “The Dandy Warhols Are Sound…“, a compilation of previously unreleased material and alternate mixes from the “Welcome to The Monkey House” recording sessions. “Late 2001 and into 2002 we recorded an album’s worth of tracks in Portland and took those tracks to New York’s Electric Lady Studios to mix with famed mixing engineer Russell Elavedo, and the result of those mixing sessions was The Dandy Warhols Are Sound.  We absolutely loved this record.  However, Capitol, our label a the time, did not”, says The Dandys’ frontman Courtney Taylor-Taylor on their website. Now finally after 7 years, the album is out with the original mixes and tracklisting on Beat The World Records, The Dandys’ label.

A New Video Of Tati… Simply Stunning

Tati grew up in the town of Gagra, in Abkhazia, a former Soviet republic on the eastern coast of the Black Sea. “I used to live 5 minutes from the sea. Abkhazia has a tropical climate, similar to the south of Italy. It’s quite an international region, where Muslims live in peace with Orthodoxs, and many nationalities are represented : Greeks, Russians, Italians, etc. But it’s definitely not a country with a fashion scene!”. Originally planning to become a hairdresser, Taty left for Moscow after being scouted at school and meeting a moscovian designer who encouraged her to try her luck in the big city. She then settled in London (“It was my first time travelling abroad and it took me a year to get used to the city. It was a brand new civilization for me, different habits, different culture and people“), and eventually moved to Paris. “I feel at home in Paris. This sounds like a cliché but I love French food, and the architecture here is amazing”. Taty’s passion is drawing, especially portraits : “My dream is to make an exhibition someday with all the portraits I drew over the past years. I might need quite a large room!“.

Focus : Elena Todorchuk

Elena was born in Ukraine and is now based in Paris. She enjoys Ukrainian rock bands, collects matchboxes, and loves lattes from Starbucks. Eventhough she travelled most parts of the world, she feels at home in Paris : “I love everything here, the architecture, the little streets, the energy. I could just walk around for hours”.

Introducing Dasha Sushko

Dasha is from Chernigov, Ukraine. She recently finished high-school, and is currently following the management and economics program at Kiev University. Dasha is a former gymnastics champion, but unfortunately suffered a knee trauma and had to put an end to her brilliant career – she had already won more than 20 medals and was considered one of the best gymnasts of her country in her age category : “That was really sad for me to be obliged to stop, but at the same time being an athlete and a student at the same time is really hard : I was training every day after school, and had to make my homeworks after the training every night”. Dasha loves painting, citing Picasso as an all-time favorite, and reading, her favorite author being russian poet Anna Akhmatova.
